BLOG 3: Elite and the Doncaster Racecourse St. Leger Festival 2013

When my friend and model Charlotte Lister asked if I would consider the role of modelling for and promoting a boutique style wedding & occasion shop at this years St. Leger Festival held at Doncaster Racecourse, I was delighted and happily accepted.

When I met Lisa, the owner of Elite Bridal & Occasion Wear for my dress selection and fittings, she was lovely, polite and happy to see me. The shop is located on Skellow Road in Doncaster and is stylishly designed and decorated with an array of unique quality dresses and gowns for all sizes and occasions.

The fitting/changing area was divine, and on the first day of the event I met Make Up Artist (MUA) Hazel Wheatley along with the other gorgeous models for hair and make up in there. Any future blushing bride would love to try on dresses/gowns for their big day with the sea of mirrors and tasteful vintage décor.

After a mad mission in the taxi to the racecourse we arrived and prepared, then we were ready for the doors to open and the floods of people to come rushing in. On the most popular day of the festival, Ladies Day, I wore a stunning quirky dip hem feathered tulle wedding dress by Verise, and on the busiest day of all, St. Leger Day, I wore a beautiful black ruffled neck cocktai dress by Milano. It was our job to meet and greet any ladies who showed interest in the dresses we were modelling and inform them of where to purchase them.

I must admit the most common and annoying comment of the day from ’some’ ladies when mentioning Elite Bridal & Occasion Wear has to be “Oh no – I’m never going to get married again, don’t need that…” well… the clue is in ‘occasion wear’ but hey ho! J

So, many of the outfits we saw the stylish ladies of Doncaster wearing were unique, sexy, classy numbers that really impressed me. But, sadly, to balance things out, there was a fair share of “Oh no she didn’ts ;)” in the building.

When the punters of Doncaster were finally in, myself, Lisa (owner) and the other girls (models) hit the champagne bar then ended up drinking it in the owners and trainers suite with a little help from our ‘magic passes’.

A fantastic day, atmosphere and experience all round, and Lisa was a pleasure and laugh to work with.

So ladies, girls and gals… if you ever need an elegant, classy, quirky or stylish number for any occasion… and all you blushing future brides would like to try and buy in style… Lisa at Elite will look after you 100%!
